TIPS

for your wristbandy

We want you to get the most from your WristBandy.  Below we have outlined some tips that will help with care and use of the wristband to last as long as possible.  Our product is considered an extended-life temporary wristband, due to the unique nature of our color-coated exterior, eventually the color will fade.  This means it is meant to last anywhere from a few weeks to a year depending on how often you use it. When you receive your wristbandy, the color layer will have a glossy sheen to it. This sheen will eventually wear off and will resemble a typical silicone wristband matte finish.  With best use practices outline below, you can ensure the longest life possible for your WristBandy.

Thank you for your purchase!

Not Intended for Babies

While WristBandy wristbands may look adorable on infants, they are not designed for children under walking age. The purpose of WristBandy is to help reunite a lost child if they wander off or get separated—a situation more common with toddlers and older kids. Babies also love to chew and suck on things, and silicone or fabric wristbands aren’t made for that use.

If you purchase a WristBandy for your little one, simply hold onto it until they’re walking—it will be ready when they are. For younger children, wristbands can also be worn around the ankle instead of the wrist, providing a safe and secure way to keep identification on them until they’re old enough to wear it comfortably on their arm.

Waterproof, Not Chew-Proof

WristBandy wristbands are made from hypoallergenic, non-toxic silicone that is waterproof—perfect for swimming, baths, or everyday play. However, we strongly recommend discouraging children from chewing on the bands. When silicone bands get wet, they can become slippery, and excessive chewing may eventually cause them to weaken or break.

Our LUXband Stretch Fabric wristbands are also waterproof and washable, making them great for daily wear. That said, like any fabric, they can permanently stretch out if chewed on or kept wet for long periods of time.

Both styles are designed for safety and everyday use, but please keep in mind: they’re not chew toys.

Color May Fade

Our WristBandy silicone wristbands feature a unique two-tone design. The outside layer is a non-toxic silicone-based coating over a white silicone core. Because this coating is thin, the outer color may gradually wear off with everyday use. Even as the outer color wears with use, the engraving will still be visible, though it may become harder to read over time.

Our LUXband Stretch Fabric wristbands are printed using the same dye sublimation process used on high-quality shirts. They hold their color vibrancy for a long time, even with regular use, but like any printed fabric, they may experience slight fading after repeated washing and extended wear.

Everyday vs. Occasional Use

Our silicone WristBandy wristbands are best suited for occasional use—ideal for amusement parks, outdoor events, airports, and other busy public places where children could get separated. While they can be worn daily, normal wear and tear will shorten their lifespan. For families who want daily use, we recommend purchasing an extra one or two as backups.

Our LUXband Stretch Fabric wristbands are designed for everyday wear by both children and adults. They’re comfortable, washable, and built to last, making them especially popular for use as medical ID wristbands or for kids who need continuous identification.

It’s Washable

Keeping your wristband clean is simple!

Silicone WristBandy

  • Wash gently with a little dish soap and warm water.

  • Avoid scrubbing too hard, as it may cause the outer color layer to fade faster.

  • To clean out the engraved letters, use a soft-bristle brush or an old toothbrush.

  • Dry with a soft towel or let it air dry on a dish rack.

  • We do not recommend putting silicone wristbands in the dishwasher, washing machine, or dryer.

LUXband Stretch Fabric Wristbands

  • Machine wash on cold, preferably inside a small washer bag.

  • Always air dry—avoid putting in the dryer, as heat can stretch or weaken the elastic.

  • Avoid oils and lotions, as fatty acids can break down the natural rubbers in the fabric.

  • If your band feels snug, give it a few gentle stretches—it’s designed to expand for most wrist sizes.

  • Remember, LUXbands are fabric and will naturally wear over time, just like clothing. Rotating between a few bands will extend their life.

Flexible But Not Unbreakable

Silicone WristBandy
Silicone is naturally flexible, but like any material, it has its limits. To put a wristband on your child, gently stretch it with two fingers on each hand and slide it over their hand. Try to prevent your child from tugging or pulling on it excessively. While it’s unlikely a child could break one on their own, with enough force it is possible.

LUXband Stretch Fabric Wristbands
LUXbands are soft and stretchy, making them comfortable for everyday wear. However, excessive stretching can cause the band to permanently lose its shape. With heavy use, the stitching may also weaken over time, which could eventually lead to the band disconnecting.

Both styles are designed for everyday safety, but like any wearable item, they’ll last longest with normal use and care.

Have Child Ask For Help

In the unlikely event your child gets separated, it’s important they know what to do. Children often panic when they can’t see their parents, which can make it harder for them to get help. Before heading into a busy place, take a moment to explain the plan: stay calm, look for a trusted adult (such as an employee, security officer, or parent with kids), and show them their wristband.

By preparing your child ahead of time, you give them the confidence to act quickly—and that means a faster, safer reunion with much less stress for everyone

Rotate Usage to Extend Lifespan

Just like clothing, wristbands last longer when they’re not worn every single day. By rotating between two or more bands, you extend the life of each.

For medical wristbands, having multiple colors also ensures your information is always visible—whether you’re matching to your outfit, replacing a band that’s being cleaned, or keeping a backup ready in case of wear and tear. Purchasing a few different colors not only extends the life of your wristbands but also adds versatility and peace of mind.

Minimize Oils & Lotions

While WristBandy wristbands are designed for everyday wear, it’s best to limit contact with lotions, sunscreens, and natural skin oils. Over time, these can break down silicone, causing the outer coating to fade more quickly and the band to feel softer or more prone to wear.

For LUXband Stretch Fabric wristbands, oils can also leave visible stains. Because they’re made of fabric, oily or greasy products may soak into the material and be difficult to wash out completely. To keep your LUXband looking its best, avoid applying lotions or sunscreen immediately before wearing it. Instead, allow these products to fully absorb into the skin before sliding on your wristband.

A little extra care goes a long way—keeping your wristband cleaner, brighter, and longer-lasting.
